Konstantinos Kostas

I am a Gestalt therapist and trainer,  an Aware Parenting Instructor, a licensed psychologist and social worker,  a Voice Dialogue & Jungian informed psychotherapist. I am a member of the European Association for Gestalt Therapy (EAGT) and the Hellenic Association for Gestalt Psychotherapy (HAGT). I served as the president (2017-2020) and vice-president (2014-2017) of HAGT. Also, I am a member of the Association of Greek Psychologists (AGP).

I was born in 1974. I studied social work at Technological Educational Institute of Athens (now University of Western Attica) and psychology at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences. I was trained in Gestalt psychotherapy initially for two years, at "Gestalt Psychotherapy and Methodology" School of Toula Vlachoutsikou and then for five years at Gestalt Foundation from which I graduated. I was trained as a Gestalt Trainer for two years at Gestalt Foundation. In addition, I  am an accredeted Aware Parenting Instructor by Dr. Aletha Solter (the Aware Parenting Institute). Also, I was trained in Drama Games, for one year, at Plefsis. Finally, I  systematicaly study Analytical Psychology for almost twenty five years, through texts, lectures, seminars and personal analysis, so that my psychotherapeutic practice is informed by the Jungian thought.

The beginning of my clinical experience occurred with practice in various social services in Athens, such as the Central Social Service and the Assistance at Home Program of the Hellenic Red Cross (HRC) and the Friendship Club of Kypseli for senior citizens (Municipality of Athens). I continued in the field of mental health at the Community Mental Health Center of Pangrati (Evaggelismos Hospital) where, among other things, I worked as co-therapist in a therapy group of women with depression (four years) and in a therapy group of adults with psychosis (three years). There followed two years of work at Zanneio Child Care Institution & Education with children, adolescents, young people and their families. Finally, I worked for a decade in the field of special education / rehabilitation at THEOTOKOS Foundation with adolescents and teenagers with learning disabilities and their parents. Also, in this Agency I was responsible for the formation and facilitation of the students’ Self Advocacy Group, in the context of the European Quality in Social Services (EQUASS).

I’ve been working as a psychotherapist  since 2000.

I have published one book of poetry (1998) and a second one is about to be published this year.

Finally, I live in Athens with my wife and our two sons.
